Description

The most remarkable vineyard is the “Roccolo del Durlo”, where the soil is particularly dark and the rocks are volcanic with a basalt base, like the stone of the walls that surround the area. Roccolo del Durlo, the most important wine in our range is made right here, in this very place, known for its rich heritage of biodiversity, for its wine culture and for the presence of ancient grape varieties.

But the setting and age of the vines - some of which are ungrafted survivors from pre-phylloxera times - are the real key to their award-winning taste, producing miniscule yields but grapes of the finest quality. 

Matured for a year in steel barrels with constant stirring until bottling to stop any “sur lies”, the result is a ‘classical method’ Soave, a wine with strong personality, where you can feel the whole soul and acidity that Garganega expresses, which only improves over time. The wine is an example of great territorial expression, skillfully interpreted by the hand of the producer.

Recognised for its great taste and artisanal creation, CERVIM (the international organisation that rewards companies and wines worldwide for their heroic viticulture) granted Le Battistelle with the title of Eroica Viticulture (bold winemakers), for their dedicated cultivation. With their vines planted on high slopes with a high altitude, it's impossible to use any machinery. But their extreme effort and unique landscape produces unrivalled results, in the form of remarkable, strong, mineral wines.
